The Leaders and the Led in Post-Cultural Revolution China

VICTOR C. FALKENHEIM is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto. His dissertation at Columbia University on the politics of Fukien is scheduled for publication in the Harvard East-Asian Monograph Series. In 1974 he travelled to the People's Republic of China on a grant from the University of Toronto. He has contributed chapters to Robert A. Scalapino (ed.), Elites in the People's Republic of China (1972), David E. Schmitt (ed.), Dynamics of the Third World: Political and Social Change (1974), and Edwin A. Winckler (ed.), Provincial Politics in China (forthcoming), and has published articles on Chinese local politics in Asian Survey, China Quarterly, and Problems of Communism. His current research project, funded by the Canada Council, deals with local participation in China.
