WILLIAM F. ROBINSON is Senior Analyst for Hungarian Affairs at Radio Free Europe in Munich. He holds degrees from Cornell and Indiana universities, where he studied political science, Soviet and East European affairs, and the Uralic-Altaic area. Mr. Robinson is the author of The Pattern of Reform in Hungary (1973), and a contributor to Robert R. Ring and Robert W. Dean (eds.), East European Perspectives on European Security and Co-operation (1974). In addition to his RFE Reports, he has written a number of articles on Eastern Europe for this journal and for Osteuropaische Rundschau, Index, and East Europe.
