Leadership Succession and Political Change in Eastern Europe

ANDRZEJ KORBONSKI, Professor of Political Science, University of California, Los Angeles, is the author of Politics of Socialist Agriculture in Poland, 1945-1960 (1965). He has written on various aspects of East European politics and economics in such journals as International Organization, Survey, Journal of International A flairs, Slavic Review, and Comparative Politics. His most recent article, “Detente, East-West Trade and the Future of Economic Integration in Eastern Europe,” will appear in World Politics in the course of 1976. He is currently in Poland on a grant from IREX doing research on the problem of state and nation building in Eastern Europe in the interwar period.
