RUDOLF L. Tökés is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Connecticut. A former Senior Fellow of the Research Institute on Communist Affairs, Columbia University, he has also taught at Wesleyan and Yale. He is the author of Béla Kun and the Hungarian Soviet Republic (1967). The Communist Party and the Hungarian Left, 1920-1944 (in press), and articles in various journals; and editor of and contributor to the forthcoming The Politics and Ideologies of Dissent in the USSR and Soviet Society and Politics in the 1970s (with Henry W. Morton).
