Konstantin Sarkisov is a member of the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and among Russia's leading specialists on Japan. His many publications on Japan include Japan and the United Nations (1975, in Russian); Democracy in Japan (1991, in Russian); Current Political and Economic Problems of Contemporary Japan (1991, in Russian), and Beyond the Cold War to Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region: Scenarios for New Relationships Between Japan, Russia, and the United States (1993, coedited with G. Allison and H. Kimura).
