Modernization and Legal Reform in Post-Mao China: The Rebirth of Socialist Legality
RICHARD BAUM is a Professor of Political Science at the University of California at Los Angeles, where he specializes in Chinese politics and international relations. His books include Prelude to Revolution: Mao, the Party and the Peasant Question, 1962–1966 (1975) and China's Four Modernizations: The New Technical Revolution (1980). He is currently working on a book-length study of the origins and evolution of the Chinese bureaucratic state.
