Art and Freedom

MARY McAULEY is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Government and Director of the Centre for Russian and Soviet Studies at the University of Essex. Her major publications are Labour Disputes in Soviet Russia 1957–1965 (Clarendon Press, 1969) and Politics and the Soviet Union (Penguin, 1977). At present she is working on the first volume of a social and political study of Leningrad 1918-1980.
