Lateral and Vertical Elite Differentiation in European Communist States Available to Purchase

JACK BIELASIAK is Assistant Professor of Political Science and Associate of the Russian-East European Institute at Indiana University, Bloomington. A native of Lodz, he was edu~mted in Poland, France, and the United States, and holds a Ph.D. irr government from Cornell University. Professor Bielasiak is the author of “ Recruitment Policy, Elite Integration and Political Stability in People's Poland,” in the forthcoming Public Policy Issues in People's Poland edited by Roger Kanet and Matwice Simon, and is currently completing a comprehensive, book-length study of Soviet and East European political elites in the post-Stalinist period. He will spend the 1978-1979 academic year at the Institute of Sociology and American Studies Center, Warsaw University, doing research on local public policy in Poland.
