HARVEY KLEHR is Associate Professor of Political Science at Emery University. A previous contributor to this journal, he has also published articles on American Communism and Marxist theory in Polity, Labor History, Survey, the Journal o[ Politics, and the Yearbook on International Communist Affairs. His book, The Social Background o] American Communist Party Elites, will be published by the Hoover Institution Press. Professor Klehr is currently doing research on the Subversive Activities Control Board.
