Our goal for this research nexus is to bring together current work demonstrating that linguistic cues, more specifically verb aspect, can influence cognitive processes. The breadth of these effects, and the research nexus, is intended to be quite broad, spanning both grammatical and semantic properties of verb aspect, and include crucial cognitive processes such as understanding, imagining, and remembering. We think research on this broad topic will get considerably more attention and exposure when organized in this way, and researchers will have opportunities in the future to organize follow-up questions and revisit topics via commentary, too—enhancing the standard journal publication experience.
