This issue marks the commencement of the second decade of Contemporary Arab Affairs Journal(CAA), with a new publisher, editorial board, and editor. I would like to thank all members of the previous editorial board for their fine work and happily welcome the new members. I look forward to energizing the vital role of CAA as a forum for publishing academic research in social sciences and humanities related to the Arab world.

Our vision foresees an innovative and progressive journal, in terms of its approach and substance, and shall encourage revisiting established ideas in light of the changing theoretical and methodological universe. We intend to make CAA a dedicated home for articles that have the potential to contribute to the understanding of the Arab world and to advance academic knowledge and education.
