In this short piece of science fiction, the author imagines a future California that is divided between people who have used artificial intelligence and bio-hacking to extend and optimize their lives, and those who have access only to 2015-era technologies, and therefore live and die as we do today. The story is of a father who has been optimized giving up his son because he cannot afford the best technology for him.
