Jorge A. Huerta is Chancellor’s Associate’s Professor of Theatre, Emeritus, at the University of California, San Diego, and adjunct professor of theater at Occidental College. A leading authority on contemporary Chicana/o and US Latina/o theater, he is author of Chicano Theatre: Themes and Forms (1982) and Chicano Drama: Performance, Society, and Myth (2000) and editor of three anthologies of plays. Huerta has directed in theaters across the country, including the San Diego Repertory, Group Theatre in Seattle, Gala Hispanic Theatre in Washington DC, La Compañía de Teatro de Albuquerque, and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre of New York. He has lectured and conducted workshops about Chicana/o theater throughout the United States, Latin America, and Western Europe.
