In 2005, Mongolian politics was dominated by struggles to fence off the “grand coalition” government from the vicissitudes of turbulent parliamentary politics, while citizens were ever more vocal in their demands to check the spread of corruption. Agriculture lost ground to mining as a contributor to GDP.
