Afterimage Journal Now Welcomes Submissions of Original Research Articles

 

Founded and launched in 1972 by photographer and curator Nathan Lyons, Afterimage: The Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism  has served as an important voice in the media arts for more than 45 years.  Afterimage was published by the Visual Studies Workshop in Rochester, New York from 1972 to 2018 and is now published by University of California Press.

 

Afterimage is pleased to expand its coverage to include publication of original peer reviewed research articles beginning with Volume 47 in 2020. The journal encourages authors to submit original work for review and possible publication in the journal.

  • Book arts
  • Contemporary art
  • Digital and new media
  • Gender studies
  • Media archaeology
  • Politics
  • Queer cultures and media
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Religion and visual culture

Authors are encouraged to review the Afterimage Author Guidelines prior to submission. Upon acceptance, all authors will be required to sign an Afterimage Author Agreement.

Afterimage also welcomes proposals for special issues. Please review the special issue guidelines before submitting a special issue proposal.
