Really, a whole book about worms? I was prepared for a technically dense, hard-to-read book about earthworms, but I was thoroughly drawn in as I read this installment in Reaktion’s series on animals. This book was an enjoyable read after all, full of little-known but interesting and even useful facts about the many types of organism we call worms. It is well written and the author provides citations throughout the book to support his statements.

The term worm is used by people to describe organisms that generally have a tapered tube-like shape. These include the many types of earth worms as well as parasitic worms, caterpillars, nematodes, certain insect larva, among all the other organisms that have the general shape of a worm.
