The science education community suffered a profound loss with the death of Lindsey (Carter) Fields, president-elect of the National Association of Biology Teachers. Lindsey was aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a helicopter in Washington, D.C., on January 29, 2025. Lindsey was traveling to represent the NABT community and advocate for excellence in life science education. As the NABT community mourns the death of this beloved leader and friend, we also want to dedicate this issue of The American Biology Teacher to honor her and celebrate her contributions to the biology teaching profession.
Growing up, Lindsey demonstrated an early passion for the life sciences in her hometown of Forgan, OK.
