For the past 2 years, my BioClub students have been actively involved in Savethefrogs.com. After a very successful frog program at the Greenwood library last year, they decided to celebrate international Save the Frogs Day at the local mall on 28 April 2012. My students organized a petition to obtain signatures of people to support their efforts to have Nikki Haley, the governor of South Carolina, issue a proclamation recognizing 28 April as Save the Frogs Day in our state. They drafted a proclamation and a letter to Governor Haley and mailed them to her, along with 500 petition signatures. They were so proud when she rewarded their efforts with the official proclamation!
