This DVD features seven 22-minute vignettes, all appropriate for middle school instruction. Some of the vignettes are devoted each to a specific science concept, whereas others explore the relationship between science and math. One features management and decision-making skills using scientific thinking. Each episode could be used as an anticipatory set or introduction to a particular science concept. The video segments are fast-paced, entertaining, high-energy, even pulsating.
One vignette, “The Truth about H2O,” does an excellent job of conveying the objective throughout the storyline and also of highlighting real-world applications of water science research being carried out by high school students. The Project Wild group is featured in a brief cameo asking probing questions to high school students doing field research.
