The Glaciers Are Melting is a beautifully illustrated book about climate change in the Rocky Mountains. "Great Glaciers!" whistled Peter Pika. "The glaciers are melting..." And off he goes to find some answers. On his trek to the Mountain Monarch (a Rocky bighorn sheep), he meets several other animals and tells them that the glaciers are melting. The animals one by one decide to join Peter Pika on his trek to the Mountain Monarch to find out what can be done. The book contains eight pages of really good educational extensions/resources for parents, many references, and questions for the child to answer at the story's end.

However, while the storyline, writing, and print are definitely for lower elementary grades, the extra educational materials are suited for a much older child – perhaps middle school age. When Peter Pika exclaims "The glaciers are melting," it is because one drop of water...
